Frequently Asked Questions

Sessions are one hour long. The frequency of sessions can vary depending on the needs of the client from just a few sessions, to longer term commitments over weeks or months. Your time and money are real considerations so we recommend using the service as long as you find it beneficial and useful."

Personal education and/or development is an educational process/activity focusing on supporting clients to identify and achieve their personal or professional goals. It recognizes people have the innate capacity and resources to improve themselves with the help of a knowledge exchange. Therapists and counselors are are professionals who focus on illness, psychopathology, diagnosis and use mental health tools to help people deal with mental health symptoms. Essentially, therapy is about illness and understanding emotions, whereas personal education is about empowerment and goal attainment.

Many clients experience improved self-awareness, clarity, develop new skills, and find they can create new plans and methods for achieving goals by learning about strengths and obstacles to their success. This is not a "diagnosis based" service or one centered on "illness," or  "pathology," or mental health "symptoms." The purpose is to help clients realize their own potential by removing barriers to motivation and utilizing their individual strengths.

PES does not accept any forms of third party insurance. All services are paid for in full by clients at the time of or shortly after each session or service (within 7 days) or by net 30 days. Accounts past 30 days will result in forfeit of further sessions and/or suspension of the account until any outstanding balance is paid.

All services provided by PES and/or all designees are educational only in nature and are entered into voluntarily by PES and any/all consumers and/or Clients. They represent an “educational partnership” (an alliance, not a legal business partnership) between a PES employee and any Client for the purpose of generating thought-provoking and creative processes to inspire and maximize Client individual and/or personal, professional, and/or business development and potential. Services are designed to facilitate Client responsibility for creation and development of their own personal, professional, and/or business goals by aiding further development toward their own strategies/plans and goals with effective learning.

1. Clients are solely responsible for creating, implementing, and managing their own physical, mental, and emotional well-being, decisions, choices, actions, and results arising out of or resulting from any educational exchanges in any educational relationship and any/all interactions with any PES employee. As such, the Client agrees that no PES employee will be liable or responsible for any actions or inaction, or for any direct or indirect result of any services provided by any PES educational consultant. All consumers/Clients of PES services understand PES services are not therapy and do not substitute for therapy if needed, and they do not prevent, cure, or treat any mental disorder or medical disease.

2. Client further acknowledges that he/she may terminate or discontinue the educational relationship at any point after they have paid any/all outstanding fees for any services provided. The relationship is voluntary. Clients always maintain the choice to explore any and all other avenues for personal and professional development and are encouraged to do so.

3. Client acknowledges that educational guidance is a comprehensive process that may involve different areas of his/her life that may include work, finances, health, relationships, education, and recreation. The Client agrees that incorporation of any educational principles implemented into the above areas are exclusively the Client’s choice and responsibility.

4. Client acknowledges that PES educational services do not involve the diagnosis or treatment of mental disorders as defined by the American Psychiatric Association and that PES educational services are not to be used as a substitute for counseling, psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, mental health care, substance abuse treatment, or other professional advice provided by legal, medical, or other qualified professionals and that it is the Client’s exclusive responsibility to seek such independent professional guidance as needed. If Client is currently under the care of a mental health professional, it is recommended that the Client promptly inform the mental health care provider of the nature and extent of the PES educational relationship agreed upon by the Client and the PES employee.

5. The Client understands that in order to enhance the educational relationship, the Client agrees to communicate honestly, remain open to feedback and assistance, and to create the time and energy to participate fully in the personal education process.
